1. It is part of the Early Pennsylvanian / Upper Carboniferous period. 2. This Upper Carboniferous outcrop is part of the Ibbenb�ren Coalfield. 3. Kilmond Scar is a prominent south-facing scarp of Upper Carboniferous Limestone. 4. The geologic range of the order extends from the Upper Carboniferous to the Triassic. 5. Geologically, the region is defined by coal-bearing layers from the upper Carboniferous period. 6. A major geological feature of the Upper Carboniferous rocks in south Wales is the south Wales coalfield. 7. Previously, the Oegophiurida were known only to exist from the lower Ordovician to the upper Carboniferous periods. 8. To the extreme east is the Red Rock fault, and the older rocks from the Upper Carboniferous period surface. 9. An inlier of upper Carboniferous rocks occurs to the south of Chester though it too is obscured by superficial deposits. 10. A major geological feature of the Upper Carboniferous sub-period in South Wales is the South Wales Coalfield syncline.
